Frequent Flyer

Author: Eddie Tobey

The importance of travel in the modern day living has reached such a level that a whole system of economy and strategic activities has taken shape. This economy of activities produced by the institutional representations of travel creates a whole system of recompenses, facilities and advantages for those individuals as well as organizations that remain loyal to the services and products of that related institution.

The phenomenon of the "frequent flyer" is part and parcel with the travel industry. The details of this kind of program for the customers depend on the financial gain that an institution has achieved from a single individual or a unit organization. This is a deliberate ploy to make the customer or the client adhere to the company which offers such discounts. It might be termed as gratitude on behalf of the companies in creating a financial as well as social relationship with the customer or the client to strengthen and cement the relationship between the two.

A frequent flyer program is a lucrative service offered by many airline companies in order to pay respect to the loyalty of a customer. These customers, for example, in this case the passengers, are given certain advantages. For example, the passengers are provided with certain offers to travel entirely for free. If a customer enrolls his or her name in the frequent flyer program, he or she accumulates points depending on the corresponding distance flown on that airline. These points are also called frequent flyer miles.

Frequent flyer miles can be enhanced for air travel and other such lucrative products and services on raising or redeeming what is called frequent flyer miles. A frequent flyer program also renders free services and increased benefits to the passengers in availing other airport facilities like as airport lounge access, or priority bookings. Therefore a frequent flyer can be explained as the passenger who has the opportunity to avail such facilities.
