It's Never Too Late To Be What You Might Have Been!

Author: Allan Kenyon and Barbara Kenyon

So you think the speed of light is fast. How about the speed of Life? We're here already. It's like the blink of an eye. Where did the time go?

Remember all those plans and all those dreams? Is it really too late to be what you might have been? Many of our coaching clients say no, absolutely not. A retired stock broker took up piano at the age of 78. A 65 year old school teacher lost 30 pounds. She looks and feels great. An 83 year old business woman has a new husband and a new life. There's a never ending buffet of options waiting for you. Just look around.

Lets take a moment now and do some pretending. In your imagination think of one unfulfilled dream you once had. Think of something you wanted to be or do and for some reason your life took a different direction. What do you see? What do you hear? How does it make you feel? Remember the old saying, "Life begins at 40?" Life also begins at 50, 60, 70, and 80. Life begins whenever you choose to reinvent yourself and live the life of your dreams. What small step can you take now to move toward what you really want? It's never too late to be what you might have been.

As you begin taking action your enthusiasm will grow, you will have a new momentum, and you will feel better physically. No, you won't be 21 again, but you could feel like it. You may not become a professional golf star, but you will knock some strokes off your game. You may not run a marathon, but you could be walking five miles a day. You may not become a speed reader, but you can start reading some of the classics you have been thinking about for years. So what do you want? What do you really, really, really want?

Can you make it happen? Of course you can. Take a moment and brainstorm your personal and business strengths. Look how many positive things you have going for you. Take a look at the qualities that made you successful in the past. These are the same qualities you have now. At any age we only use a small fraction of our potential. Go ahead and dare to do and be what you "really" want. Dare to be happy!

"If one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life which he has imagined, he will meet with success unexpected in common hours." --Henry David Thoreau
