Never Bet Against an American Cyclist

Author: Lance Winslow

The French who sponsored the Tour de France did not want Lance Armstrong to participate in their event anymore because he kept winning the race and making them look bad. They wanted someone else to win the race they wanted a Frenchman to win. The French went so far as to accuse Lance Armstrong of doping and using anabolic steroids in order to smear his name and take away his victories.

That tactic did not work and it proves the excuses, cheating and bad mouthing your competition is not the way to win. The French celebrated when they discovered that Lance Armstrong would not be competing this year. But that did not matter because Floyd Landis another American won the race anyway and he did it with severe injuries to his hip. Never bet against an American cyclist and never bet against the United States of America.

The United States of America produces the greatest athletes because we focus on the individual and because we believe in the strength of character of the team and the individual. As we watched Floyd Landis ride through the streets of France in a yellow jersey it brought back memories. For those socialist nations which pushed down the individual; they should never expect to beat an American athlete.

Floyd Landis proves that America has the right stuff and that American athletes are at the top of their game. He gives hope to future athletes and American cyclist who will continue to dominate the Tour de France because it is there and because they can. The results of this year's Tour de France proved once again that Americans are great. Consider this a 2006.
