Student Part Time Career Shift

Author: Daryl Des Marais

Some people just don't know what job track to take, these are usually called "entrepreneurs"

They get bored easily, other people may call them other things. But has anyone ever actually asked what you would like to do? When I was completing high school they asked what would you like to do for the rest of your life and I went. "REST OF MY LIFE, SAME JOB" hmmm (INTERNALLY OF COURSE)

These days having the same job for the rest of your life is not as common, but perhaps it is coming back in vogue. Alot of boomers are retiring and there is a shortage of "skilled workers" they say.

So you can do a review of the jobs and the skills you liked. Maybe it was also the type of people or the type of personalities you associated with. Were they proactive, reactive, thinkers or analyzers? What do you like to do? Maybe parts of each of the jobs you had can be combined in a certain industry?

Learning from a variety of successful people is not a bad thing? It could be a good thing! But you must take it in stride! What did you learn from each of your employers in terms of observing the skills in the business, or for entrepreneurs the "bosses" skills.

Perhaps that was even more valuable even if it did not end up to be the "dream job"! But really what is a "dream job" these days anyways.

People move and things change, markets can change fast and your needs may change in life as you take the path of career, marriage and other things that come along. So do not over-think or cause yourself concern.

Perhaps, see how you can take from these skills and package it into something that you would like to focus on for 5 years. Then you could see what else may come along. You may be surprised to find out that there may be more opportunities than you think, using the skills you learned.

Once you get associated with a goal in common with another business or a type of skill you really enjoy you will be surprised how quickly time will pass and you will no longer ponder what is the "dream job".

Plus you will have many stories to tell when you get older. Different stories you can tell your kids or grand-kids. Life can be an adventure, how much an adventure is up to you. To your future success!
